The GE Great Britain Triathlon Team competes in the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU Triathlon World Championships Grand Final in Budapest this weekend, with BBC Sport broadcasting the elite men and women’s races from the Hungarian Capital.

 

Brownlee beaten into Silver by Silva

BRITISH TRIAHTLON PRESS RELEASE:

Jonathan Brownlee was beaten into silver medal position in a sprint finish at the 2010 Vila Nova de Gaia ETU Triathlon U23 and Youth European Championships in Portugal (28 August). The 20 year old Jonathan Brownlee  from Leeds pushed the pace throughout the run, but was beaten on the line by Portugal’s Joao Silva by only one minute.

Tim Don eyes third World title in lucky Lausanne

Tim Don has an opportunity to win his third career world title in Lausanne on Saturday when he competes at the 2010 Lausanne ITU Elite Sprint Triathlon World Championships. His previous two world titles were also won in Lausanne in 1998 (junior) and 2006 (senior). However, he will have to overcome heavy legs and a fierce international line up to reach the finish line first.

Jonathan Brownlee is in the hunt for triathlon titles again this weekend when he competes at the 2010 Vila Nova de Gaia ETU Triathlon U23 and Youth European Championships in Portugal. He became World sprint champion last weekend in Lausanne. Hollie Avil will also look to add the European Under 23 title to her World Under 23 won in 2009.

Stuart Hayes achieved the best result of his long career with a win at the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series Kitzbuehel today, 14 August. He attacked to open a 1min 43second lead over the chasing pack on the bike and ran away with the win. Hayes, 31, rode a similarly attacking ride in Hyde Park, and this time forced a break with Gregg Bennett, Matt Charabot, Maik Petzold and Christian Prochnow. When he finished 8th in Hyde Park, Hayes said he needed at least a 1 min 30 gap over the faster runners to give himself a chance of winning, and he did exactly that today.

Britain’s Jodie Swallow narrowly missed out on a victory at the Tiszaujvaros ITU Triathlon World Cup in Hungary, 8 August, after a sprint finish for the line with the Ukraine's Yuliya Sapunova. It was Sapunova’s first victory after completing more than fifty World Cup races.American Sara McLarty was the fastest swimmer and established a commanding lead on the bike.

I personally gave him very high scores to finish with a very imressive time(8:15) in Ironman Hawaii? He was involved in 3 crashes  (fell twice) and finally finished 11 minutes behind to his rivals: "My Tour is finished but I’m going to hang in there and enjoy my last Tour de France. The Tour is over for me but I’ll stay in the race and try and win stages, help the team and appreciate my time here. No tears from me.
