Morrison wins World Duathlon title in Edinburgh

Preview of Powerman Long-Distance World-Championship in Zofingen 2010

powerman_zofingenOn the weekend of the 4th and 5th of September 2010 the Powerman Zofingen will already be taking place for the 22nd time. With its 10km (6.21mi) run, 150km (93.21mi) cycling, and another 30km (18.64mi) run the Long-Distance World Championship event is the toughest duathlon in the world. By contrast, the enhanced Powerman Charity, held for the third time, will offer a lot of fun and do much good. Several celebrities have already announced their participation. - Raphael Galliker

"The UNESCO World Heritage site of Place Stanislas in Nancy, France was transformed into a duathlon venue  to host the ETU Duathlon European Championship. The event coincided with the May Day holiday in France.
 

Powerman Germany 2010 preview and results

powerman_germanyUlrike Schwalbe (GER) and Andy Sutz (SUI) won Powerman Germany 2010.Once again there  was a very strong male field lined up at the Powerman Germany 2010.The most probable winners were the Swiss Andy Sutz and the British Matt Moorhouse. Since Powerman Germany was nominated the German Duathlon Championship event also, therefore the top German athletes were also at the starting line for their 2010 National Duathlon Championship rankings.

Two of duathlon’s most successful Age Group athletes claimed the top spots at the Big Cow Emberton Duathlon in Berkshire yesterday, 11 April. The event, which doubled as a qualification event for the 2010 Edinburgh ITU Duathlon World Championships in September and as a British Duathlon Ranking Series event, attracted a large field including the winners, Matt Morehouse and Emma Dews.

Age Group selections get closer after ITU Edinburgh Duathlon World Championships qualifying race at Stirling.Current ETU Duathlon European Champion, Scotland's Catriona Morrison lived up to expectations at the Stirling Duathlon yesterday (Sunday 28 March 2010), holding off the challenge of former Commonwealth Games runner Gillian Palmer to live up to her pre-race favourite billing.  Overall winner was another home runner: 21-year-old student David McNamee who crossed the line almost three minutes ahead of his nearest challenger to win in one hour 49 minutes. Morrison finished in one hour 58 minutes.
 

ITU World Championships medalists since 1990

The ITU Duathlon World Championships have been held annually since 1990. The championships involve a continuous run-cycle-run, typically with the first run being 10 km, the cycle being 40 km and the second run being 10 km (however the distances have varied during the event's history). The championships are organised by the International Triathlon Union.

Powerman Duathlon World Championships Zofingen: The winners of the 22nd Powerman Zofingen are the same as two years ago: Andy Sutz from Schaffhausen and Erika Csomor from Hungary, who won for the seventh time. The couple ist therefore World Champion on the Duathlon Long Distance of the I.P.A (International Powerman Association).

Catriona Morrison eyes home win for world title

One month from today, 5 August, Britain’s Catriona Morrison will bid to become World Champion at the 2010 GE Edinburgh ITU Duathlon World Championships. She last won the world title in 2006, and has since built a reputation as one of the world’s toughest endurance athletes.

Last year's  Duathlon World championships was held in Concord (USA-Colorado) and gold medalists were Jarrod Shoemaker(USA) and Vendula Frintova(CZ). This year's  2010 Edinburgh Duathlon World Championships will take part on 3rd - 5th September 2010.About the final course map ther are no informations on the Edinburgh Duathlon homepage, but what is sure is a "significantly long climb with a steep and technical decent.The run will use the roads around the Scottish Parlament and "Dynamic Earth" exhibition venue, with one large hill per lap. The races will consist of multiple laps making the Edinburgh course one of the most challenging ever used for an ITU Duathlon World Championships."
