After the overwhelming requests the organisers received from literaly hundreds of the Lisboa Triathlon fan athletes they have decided that theylisboa_international_triATHLON_2009 must accept those requests and go back to the original format."(After being a Tristar event last year)This event belongs to the athletes, they have made it into what it is today and we must listen to what they want."

Lisboa Triathlon is the fastest Half Ironman distance triathlon in Europe and, most likely in the World! The race h as sp ecial features that make it for one of the most appealing events early in the season. The time of the year, the weather conditions in Lisbon at this time, the almost 100% flat course and the few extra details we tell you below, make this event a must!

Location: In the heart of a major Capital in Europe, Lisboa.

Host Hotel: two minutes walking distance to race venue

Venue: The newest part of town, tones of restaurants all in walking distance, major shopping mall, bars, night clubs, Casino, all the entertainment you can think of plus public transportation to all of the rest of the city and Portugal. Major national and international bus stop, major train national and international train station, bus, subway, and taxis always available.

Weather: historically the event average temperature has been around 25 to 27 celsius (yes, hot at this time of the year!) the water temperature has been around 17 to 19 celsius, so, wetsuits are allowed according to race regulation (below 22 celsius)

Race course: Swim is in a 2 lap artificial lake easy to follow and walk around by spectators, the bike course is 4 laps of 22.5 km in a major freeway 100% closed to traffic (very, very fast) and on the venue main avenue (also very spectator friendly, you can see everyone go by 4 times!) and finally, the run course, is also in a 5 km 4 lap course, again, perfect for taking plenty of pictures and see the athletes go by another 4 times before they finish!
